A simulation of Physarum polycephalum — a single-celled organism
that forages by extending a network of veins,
reinforcing efficient paths while forgotten routes atrophy.
20,000 agents (flâneurs) wander through a circular field, leaving a trail behind them.
Each senses the faint signal ahead and is pulled towards stronger currents.
Desire paths are carved out in the field, as forgotten routes slowly fade.
The network emerges entirely from local rules.
A generative oceanic field where sound and gesture
continuously reshape a breathing field of lines,
choreographing data through memory, motion, and space. (4/4)
David Régé is an artist and nascent Architect based out of San Francisco, California, USA.
His work is grounded in hand-crafted material exploration, augmented by computational and industrial design processes — from bytes to bricks.
He collaborates with designers, engineers, and stakeholders to assemble bespoke artifacts, spaces, and experiences designed to unfold gracefully, like a great conversation, in response to context.
He is currently designing experiences at North Coast Land Holdings.
